Can we hire you to design and renovate our home?
At this moment, we are not assisting homeowners with their own renovations, we purchase all the units we transform but it might be something we consider in the future.
What type of materials do you use?
We handpick and select all the material used in our homes. When we can, we try and support local businesses in the surrounding area. If you have a specific question on a type of material please feel free to reach out to us on the “Contact” page and we will try our best to assist you.
Do you hire an interior designer?
All our transformations are based on our own vision for that specific homes. Our inspiration comes from our own research on newly built homes in metropolitan cities around the world.
Do you have the opportunity to conduct a home inspection prior to purchasing?
We hire a professional home inspector to conduct an inspection of all our homes prior to putting them on the market. We are happy to share the report with potential buyers to save that expense for them however we are not at all opposed to a buyer wanting to conduct their own.
In a condo, do you need permission to do renovations from the condo board?
The vast majority of condo boards have their own rules and regulations you must adhere to. It is incredibly important prior to purchasing a condo, especially when you’re looking to renovate, that you have a great understanding of what these rules and regulations are. We take great care in ensuring that we are respectful of these rules and regulations but also respectful to our neighbours. Another important factor to consider is whether or not you will be altering any of the existing rooms. For example, part of our design is removing a non-load bearing wall to create an open concept home. This actually requires a permit from the City of Ottawa. We’ve talked about this before in more depth on our Facebook page “A Couple of Alexes”.
What are condo fees?
We understand that many people that are new to condos are new to the concept of condo fees. In a nutshell, they are a monthly fee charged to your unit and the cost is based on the square footage of your unit. These fees include the operation and maintenance of the “common areas” (essentially everything outside of the unit that you own) as well as any amenities that the condo offers. Amenities typically are things such as an exercise room, pool, party room, etc. If you have any further questions on condo fees we are happy to answer any you may have.
Do you use certified professional electricians and plumbers?
YES! It’s incredibly important to us that we use certified professionals for such skilled work. We have a great team!
How do you select paint colours?
We choose to paint our walls with a clean, high quality white paint. This leaves the homes with a clean canvas for our future buyers to put their own personal touch to.
How can I view your transformations?
If you are currently working with a Realtor, you can schedule a viewing through them and we are happy to confirm as soon we can. If not, Alex Harden is a licensed Realtor and will be happy to walk you through as well as give you a tour of any amenities.
Do you only sell your own transformations?
No, we are happy to assist yourself, your friends, family, etc. with your Real Estate needs. We have happily assisted many in their search for a new property as well as the sale of any current property they own. We also have a history in commercial Real Estate therefore are happy to assist in anything from acquisition to sale to leasing.
