It is very nice to “e-meet” you, and as you’ve found your way to our website, we thought we’d tell you a little about what we do and who we are!

Our primary focus is the purchasing of highly desirable yet outdated residential properties in the most sought after neighbourhoods in our gorgeous hometown of Ottawa. We take great care in choosing the area they have been built in—requirements of amenities, shopping, transit, entertainment and safety are taken into consideration before we even look at them. Once we have found and acquired the select property, we transform the unit itself into a home; much like what you’d see in a high-end newly built structure in large cities across the world. We take inspiration from what is on trend and in style and are involved in every step of the process. We choose all of the materials (from paint colours, flooring, kitchen cabinets, fixtures…even to the colour of the grout!), hand pick each of our trades and carefully supervise all of our contractors as the transformation unfolds.

So… who are ‘A Couple of Alexes’? Well… you may have already guessed that it’s two people named Alex! Alex Brunette-D’Souza and Alex Harden.

She is bilingual and has a Degree in Commerce from the University of Ottawa. Alex Harden

Managing Partner - Real Estate

Alex Harden grew up in the Glebe playing soccer and is a graduate of Ashbury College. She spent her post-secondary education at the University of Western Ontario and Humber College, and has a degree in Advertising and is a licensed Realtor. After school she moved back to Ottawa and began working in both Commercial and Residential real estate. She has spent the last five years volunteering with Christie Lake Kids a wonderful charity that offers programming for children from low-income families.

The two Alexes met back in November of 2018 at a Tony Robbins event right here in Ottawa! We started to chat in line, became friends and then realised we share very similar goals in both business and life. It didn’t take long for us to take action once we made the decision to work together. We were incorporated in February of 2019 as ‘A Couple of Alexes Inc.’, and purchased our first unit which closed on March 8th of 2019. We have now (September 2019) completed three transformations. Being women in an industry that’s dominated by men has been a very interesting, sometimes difficult, sometimes awkward but ultimately very rewarding experience. We quickly realised that we are in a unique position as young women in a male-dominated business and challenges have come to us on a daily basis in that regards. However, we have come to love our new business…old attitudes are simply new challenges to overcome…and we hope to bring the work ethic, strength, integrity and attention to detail of women to this workplace and to every home that we upgrade and renew.

The sky is the limit! You can follow our journey on @acoupleofalexes on
Instagram and we look forward to building a community through our transformations.
